In the highlands of Ecuador, where winding roads carve through cloud forests and volcanoes, a wild idea took shape. Not in a factory or a corporate showroom—but in the hands of four motorcycle-obsessed cousins, determined to build something original, fun, and meaningful. This is the story behind the Ecuador Mini Rally Adventure—a tour like no other on Earth.
It’s a ride across four stunning regions of Ecuador: Andes Mountains, Amazon Rainforest and Pacific Coast—all done on hand-built motorcycles powered by repurposed generator engines and various motorcycle parts from other bike models. Wild enough yet?

🛠️ Built by Riders, For Riders
The story begins with a local Ecuadorian family of cousins, all descended from generations of motorcycle travelers. Instead of buying bikes, they chose to build their own, as a tribute to their forefathers. What started as a backyard experiment turned into a national journey—and eventually, a tourism revolution.
Using a 190cc Honda stationary engine—typically found in generators—they engineered each bike with handmade frames, scooter suspension, custom steering setups, and 10–12 inch rims. Every prototype was tested, adjusted, and shared among the group to create a unified fleet of rugged, minimalist travel machines.
They weren’t just making bikes. They were building a story, piece by piece—with no manual and no guarantees.
“We didn’t even know if they’d survive a week on the road. But when we hit 85 km/h and saw how stable they were, we realized we’d created something special.”
The planning started in February 2024, it took them 6 months to gather materials together; in August 2024 the home-made factory started its production and by October 2024, they completed their mission, not buiding only 4 minibikes, but 8, and soon after a 1,500 km journey across Ecuador went underway. They completed their first trip succesfully, proving these little beasts were ready for the big leagues.

The Birth of the Ecuador Mini Rally Adventure
JC Motorcycle Adventures—already known for bold, authentic riding experiences—immediately saw the potential. We teamed up with the builders and created a rally-style tour with a twist:
No big-bore engines. No luxury gloss. Just handcrafted bikes, raw landscapes, and a real sense of freedom.
The Ecuador Mini Rally Adventure gives you the feel of a self-guided rally, but with structure and support:
- The tour leader gives you GPS coordinates, maps, and riding tips
- You ride at your own pace between daily checkpoints
- The tour leader rides middle or sweep as needed
- And the support truck, complete with our mechanic (and bike builder!) and paramedic, follows at the back
You’ll ride through Ecuador’s Cloud Forests, the Amazon Rainforest, Andean highlands and Pacific Coast, and as a reward for you amazing effort, you will leave the bikes behind so you can finish your journey at the Galápagos Islands on a 4 day adventure (OPTIONAL) stopping for volcanic hot springs, waterfalls, jungle villages, and unforgettable cultural experiences.
💰 Affordable by Design – 60% Cheaper Than Most Global Tours
Motorcycle tours around the world have gotten expensive, often costing $9,000 to $12,000 USD, due to inflation and world politics, and thats for a two-week ride. The Ecuador Mini Rally Adventure breaks that mold.
Because we use locally crafted motorcycles, work with small family-owned hotels, and eliminate bloated logistics, this tour costs 60% less than most similar adventures globally—even cheaper than India or Southeast Asia, and with far more included.
Despite the low cost, you still get:
- 16 days of travel
- Motorcycle rental
- Support truck, fuel, mechanical service
- Bilingual guide
- Lodging and most meals.
- Domestic flight to/from the Galápagos
- Park fees, excursions, and airport transfers
It’s a high-value experience at a price that lets more people live their dream.
🌍 Travel That Supports Locals
This tour also supports local families and communities. The minibike builders earn from each tour. The mechanic on the road? He’s the original builder. And every stop—from roadside snack stalls to rural hostels—pumps tourism dollars directly into Ecuadorian hands.
You’re not just a tourist—you’re part of the ecosystem that made this tour possible.
🏁 Ride the Mini Rally, Make Big Memories
Whether you’re a beginner looking for your first international ride, an intermediate rider craving something offbeat, or a seasoned pro ready to slow down and soak up the scenery—this tour is for you.
The bikes are small, but the adventure is massive.
And with new bikes and new routes every year, the Ecuador Mini Rally Adventure gives you a reason to come back again and again.
